Self Catering Advice

There are many great deals being offered by private owners of holiday accommodation in Turkey and the internet is an excellent resource for comparing prices and locations.

Before booking

Quality websites advertising self catering apartments will provide not only detailed information about the apartment, location and availability but also include many photographs which help give a good idea of the destination. When an owner has a quality product they will usually want to show potential holiday-makers as much as possible. Be cautious of advertisements which don’t give you a clear idea of what to expect. For example you should ask yourself why an advertisement doesn’t show an external/internal shot of the accommodation or the surrounding area.

Make sure the accommodation is suitable for children

If you are booking a family holiday with children then check that the apartment/villa is suitable. Are there any facilities you require (cots etc.)? Is there a children’s pool or play area? Is the complex secure? It may not be a good idea to book a property that contains a lot of breakables or having to climb numerous flights of stairs.

Paying for your accommodation

Do not pay with cash or cashier cheques. The best way to pay is by a bank cheque, debit or credit card if the owner or agency provide that service. It’s important that the money can be traced back in the event that anything should anything happen. Also, keep a copy of all e-mail communication between you and the owner or rental company.
